3D Printing |
As previously mentioned on our home page, we designed our intake system after a car wash's rollers. Essentially, as the minerals land closer to a box we created, our tubes will suck up the mineral. The system is constantly spinning so it brings in minerals.

One fun thing we did this year was 3D printing a lot of custom parts for our robot. This made our robot lightweight and more effective. We 3D printed our phone holder which made it perfect for custom phone alignment. We also 3D printed our box for our intake system and our Team Marker.

Double Decker BusWe drew our inspiration for our robot from a double decker bus. We have a simple square chassis with rear wheel drive to model one. We have two decks. The first one is for all electrical components and the second one is for mechanical components.
Rack and PinionWe were inspired by steering wheels to use a rack and pinion. A rack and pinion is another mechanism that turns rotary motion into linear motion. As the motor turns the gear on our robot the rack extends out to increase the length. We use a rack and pinion to reach minerals in the craters.

Lead ScrewWe drew our inspiration for the lead screw from a car jack. A lead screw is a mechanism that turns rotary motion into linear motion. As the lead screw turn it raises the car jack and the car so we used one powered by a motor to lift our robot.
MotorsWe used seven motors.
6 DC Motors:
2 Servo Motors:
